Quality certificates

Quality NEN-EN ISO 9001:2015

In order to guarantee quality, Sundisc Abrasives has been ISO 9001 certified since October 2005.  Sundisc Abrasives has all processes set down in procedures, from ordering of raw materials to delivering the end product. These procedures guarantee constant quality and flexibility.

Health & Safety management OHSAS 18001:2007

The OHSAS 18001 safeguards that the Health & Safety management system of Sundisc Abrasives meets the regulatory requirements. In addition, Sundisc Abrasives is constantly focused on improving working conditions. With this certification, Sundisc Abrasives strives to guarantee the health and safety of its employees as much as possible.

Environmental management NEN-EN-ISO 14001:2015

Sundisc Abrasives cares deeply about a cleaner environment. During the norm-setting of ISO 14001, we looked at compliance with legal environmental requirements, implementation and execution, being prepared for emergency situations, and training employees in environmental awareness.

oSa membership

oSa – Organization for the Safety of Abrasives

It goes without saying that Sundisc Abrasives takes the safety of its products very seriously.

Formerly, there was no worldwide regulation concerning the safety of coated and bonded abrasive materials. In order to fill this gap, a few manufacturers established the oSa in 2000. The members of this organisation defined a series of safety requirements to be upheld in production processes.

In order to become a member of the oSa, all established procedures and requirements must be complied with, and audits carried out to full satisfaction.

We are proud to be able to call ourselves a member of the oSa. This means that Sundisc Abrasives may also use the oSa logo on its products. This guarantees our clients that our flap discs meet the strictest safety norms.

Testing facilities

Grinding robot

We are often asked how our flap discs perform when compared with other flap discs on the market. Therefore, together with the supplier of our machines, we developed a grinding robot specifically for testing flap discs.

This robot was developed to imitate the way a human grinds material as much as possible. The pressure is constant, but with tilting and various grinding lengths. This creates a test situation in which a human is perfectly copied, but the circumstances are always the same.

As Sundisc Abrasives offers just about all possible qualities of abrasive cloth, we now have a very complete database with test results of the different types. The tests were carried out on standard steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

We not only use our state-of-the-art robot for our own use, but also let our clients benefit from the opportunities this robot offers. Our clients can also show these test results to their customers as a marketing and sales instrument.

Speedtester

The minimum rotation speeds that a flap disc can bear is one of the most important elements of the strict requirements of the European norm EN 13743, which is mandatory for oSa members.  Sundisc Abrasives has its own speed testers to test this.

Step by step, the speed tester increases the rotation speed of the flap disc being tested.  This must be at least 140 m/s according to the norm EN 13743. We run this test on 1% of our produced flap discs. On request, we add these test reports to the orders of our larger clients as an extra service.
